BYD Cars Philippines, a subsidiary of ACMobility, has officially unveiled the BYD eMAX 9 DM-i at the 13th Philippine Electric Vehicle Summit, setting a new benchmark for electric luxury MPVs. Designed for discerning Filipino families, it blends elegance, comfort, and cutting-edge electrified performance.
Design and Comfort
The eMAX 9 DM-i showcases BYD’s Dragon Face design, sleek LED headlights, and 18-inch alloy wheels, giving it a bold yet refined appeal. Inside, the seven-seat cabin offers both Premium and Advanced variants, each tailored for comfort and practicality.
The Premium model elevates the experience with ventilated and massage captain seats, beige-and-brown leather interiors, ambient lighting, a built-in refrigerator, a 15.6-inch infotainment screen, and a 12-speaker audio system, topped off with a panoramic sunroof. Both variants come with a Tri-Zone Cooling System, ensuring everyone enjoys their ideal temperature.
Performance and Range
Powered by BYD’s Super DM-i Technology, the eMAX 9 DM-i combines a 1.5-liter turbocharged generator with a high-power electric motor for a total output of 271 PS and 315 Nm of torque, allowing it to go from 0 to 100 km/h in just 8.5 seconds.
The Premium variant comes with a 36.6 kWh battery offering up to 170 km of pure electric range and a total range of 1,000 km, while the Advanced variant has a 20.4 kWh battery with 95 km pure electric range and 945 km combined range. In an AAP-certified efficiency test, the eMAX 9 DM-i Premium exceeded expectations, covering 1,261 km on a full tank and battery charge.
Charging is equally convenient, supporting up to 7 kW AC and 73 kW DC fast charging. The Premium model takes about five hours to fully charge via AC or under 20 minutes to go from 30% to 80% using DC fast charging. It also features Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) technology, turning the car into a mobile power source for devices and appliances on the go.
Safety and Technology
The Premium variant integrates BYD’s DiSus-C suspension system for enhanced stability and comfort, alongside the DiPilot Advanced Driver Assistance System. This includes adaptive cruise control, automatic emergency braking, blind-spot detection, and lane-keeping assist. Safety is further reinforced by eight airbags, a 360-degree panoramic camera, and rear cross-traffic alert, ensuring full protection for every passenger.
Pricing and Warranty
The BYD eMAX 9 DM-i Advanced is priced at ₱2,678,000, while the Premium variant retails for ₱2,998,000. Both models are available in Cosmos Black, Deep Sea Blue, and Aurora White, backed by BYD’s comprehensive warranty: eight years or 160,000 km for the Blade Battery and drive unit, and six years or 150,000 km for the vehicle itself.
