Metro Manila never really slows down. Roads stay busy, schedules change fast, and traffic can turn a simple trip into a long day. In the middle of all this, trust is built quietly. Not through big promises, but through rides that feel steady, predictable, and easy to live with.
For some drivers and commuters, electric taxis are slowly becoming part of that routine. Not as a bold statement, but as a practical way to make daily travel feel a little more balanced.
Making a Living on Manila’s Roads
Driving for a living in Metro Manila has always meant making tough choices. Income can change week to week. Fuel prices go up without warning. Long hours on crowded roads leave little space to plan ahead.
Because of this, more drivers are looking at electric vehicles for simple reasons: better control over costs and a workday that feels easier to manage.
Benedick Ferreras, a Metro Manila driver who had never used an electric vehicle before, said the decision came down to everyday needs, not the tech itself. “I save more now because I don’t need to spend on fuel, and maintenance is also lower compared to gas vehicles,” he shared. “It makes planning my monthly expenses more manageable.”
Carlo Monti Galano, who also drives with Green GSM, said the same thing comes up often in conversations with fellow drivers. Without the constant worry of fuel price hikes, budgeting feels less stressful. “Charging costs are lower, so I have more flexibility for my family and other needs,” he said.
Ride-hailing work is known for its ups and downs, but some drivers say their income now feels more predictable. Instead of sharp swings every week, earnings are easier to estimate. That makes it possible to plan work hours better and avoid pushing too hard just to catch up.
Clearer setups matter too. Knowing what to expect at the end of the month gives drivers a sense of control. While waiting or charging, the same ideas come up again and again: fewer surprises, more manageable costs, and work that feels sustainable.
For many, the appeal of electric taxis isn’t about being new or different. It’s about small changes that make daily life on the road easier.
A Calmer Way to Deal with Traffic
Traffic doesn’t just hit the wallet. Hours of stop-and-go driving also wear people down, especially those who spend most of their day behind the wheel.
Raul Dela Cruz, another driver new to electric vehicles, described the change in simple terms.
“It’s smooth and quiet,” he said. “In heavy traffic, that makes driving feel less stressful and easier to manage.”
The lack of engine noise and vibration may seem minor at first, but over time, drivers say it helps. A quieter cabin and smoother drive make long hours feel less tiring and help drivers stay focused on busy roads.
Passengers notice it too. Yaj Myel Manzo, a regular commuter in Metro Manila, said the difference shows up in small ways. “The car is quiet, the Green GSM driver is careful, and the overall experience feels calm,” he said. “For me, a good ride is one I don’t have to think about.”
Consistent service and built-in safety features help both drivers and riders feel more at ease. Over time, these calm, no-fuss trips shape how people think about reliability. When a ride starts and ends smoothly, it becomes part of the daily routine instead of a problem to solve.
Small Changes That Matter
Electric taxis aren’t changing Manila overnight. They’re blending into the city’s daily flow, becoming just another part of the road. But in a place defined by constant movement, small shifts matter.
More predictable workdays. Calmer trips. A growing sense of trust on the road. These things don’t grab attention, but for the people who live and work in Manila’s traffic every day, they can make a real difference—one quiet, steady ride at a time.
