Tesla Model Y L Officially Launches in the Philippines: First Look at the New Six-Seater EV

Tesla Model Y L
The new Tesla Model Y L is finally making its way to the Philippines, and this one feels a bit more practical than what we’ve seen before from Tesla.

Its now available for public viewing at the Tesla Center BGC. If you’ve been curious about Tesla but needed more space, this might be the version worth checking out in person.

A Model Y That Actually Fits a Family

At a glance, it still looks like a Model Y. But once you get into the details, it’s clearly built with families in mind. The Model Y L comes with a three-row, six-seat layout, and instead of squeezing people in, it focuses on giving each row usable space. The second-row captain seats already make a big difference—easier access to the third row, and honestly just more comfortable for longer rides.

You also get features that you’ll actually notice day-to-day:

  • Powered armrests and one-touch folding on the second rowHeating and ventilation for added comfort
  • Third row with power recline and its own climate control
  • It’s the kind of setup that feels more thought out, especially if you regularly travel with family or a full car.

More Refined Where It Matters
Performance-wise, it does 0–100 km/h in around 5 seconds, which is quick for something this size. But what stands out more is the ride quality.

Tesla updated the suspension with adaptive damping, and paired with acoustic glass, the cabin should feel quieter and more stable over rough roads. For local conditions—traffic, uneven roads, long drives—that refinement matters more than outright speed.

The new 19-inch Machina wheels and improved chassis tuning also help with overall handling. It’s not just about being fast, but being easier to live with every day.

Range and Space for Real Use
The Model Y L is rated at up to 681 km (WLTP), which already covers most real-world use without needing frequent charging.

Cargo space goes up to 2,539 liters, so it’s flexible enough for groceries, luggage, or even bigger loads when needed.

In actual use, this is where it makes the most sense:

  • Daily drives around the city
  • Weekend out-of-town trips
  • Family errands with a full cabin
  • It’s built more around real-life scenarios than just numbers on paper.

Pricing and Where to See It
The Model Y L comes in at an indicative ₱2,849,000, making it the top variant in the Model Y lineup locally.

You can check it out at:

  • Tesla Center BGC
  • Rockwell Power Plant Mall (South Court) from April 6 to 19, 2026

Tesla is also opening registrations for test drives and updates through their official channels.

Model 3 Still Covers the Entry Point

Alongside it, the Tesla Model 3 continues to be the more accessible option in the lineup. It offers:

  • Up to 750 km range (WLTP)
  • Starting price of ₱1,838,000
  • Monthly estimate from ₱29,990

If you’re just getting into EVs, the Model 3 still feels like the easier entry point. But if space is a priority, the Model Y L clearly has the advantage.

Charging in the Philippines Is Slowly Expanding, Tesla Philippines is also continuing to build its charging network locally.

Right now, there are:

  • 4 Supercharging stations (16 Superchargers)
  • 6 Destination Charging stations (24 Wall Connectors)
  • More than 95% of owners using home charging

More locations are expected in: Benguet, Laguna, Pampanga, Cebu, Zambales, and Quezon City.

It’s still growing, but coverage is improving, especially for daily use.

Model Y Lineup Pricing (Philippines), here’s how the Model Y lineup currently looks:

  • Rear-Wheel Drive – ₱2,369,000
  • Long Range RWD – ₱2,594,000
  • Long Range AWD – ₱2,749,000
  • Model Y L AWD – ₱2,849,000 (indicative)

The Model Y L doesn’t feel like a drastic change—but it’s a meaningful one. It takes what already works with the Model Y and makes it more usable, especially for families. The added seating, improved comfort, and better ride quality make it easier to live with on a daily basis.

If you’ve been waiting for a Tesla that can handle more people without compromising space, this is probably the version to look at.
