The Philippine motorcycle market is packed with well-known 125cc scooters that have become the go-to choice for daily commuting. VinFast is looking to change that with the Viper, an electric motorcycle that combines familiar sporty styling with battery swapping and flexible ownership options. Starting at ₱73,900, it enters one of the country's most competitive segments while offering an alternative to conventional gasoline-powered scooters.
Sporty Design with Everyday Performance
The VinFast Viper doesn't look like a typical electric motorcycle. Instead of futuristic styling, it adopts the aggressive proportions seen on many popular 125cc bikes, making it feel immediately familiar. Power comes from a 5,200W BLDC in-wheel motor capable of reaching speeds of up to 90km/h, making it suitable for city streets and faster urban roads.
It also includes premium touches such as a TFT instrument display, Smart Key with remote locating and tracking, projector headlamps, and dual rear shock absorbers with external reservoirs. Two removable LFP batteries fit under the seat, providing a range of up to 150km under standard conditions, enough for several days of typical commuting for many riders.
Battery Swapping Adds Convenience
Charging remains one of the biggest concerns for first-time EV buyers, and VinFast addresses this by offering two ways to keep the Viper running. Riders can recharge the removable batteries at home using a standard household outlet or swap depleted batteries at V-Green battery-swapping stations. Each swap costs ₱35, while customers who subscribe on or before July 31, 2026 receive a free one-battery subscription for the first 12 months and up to 20 free battery swaps every month during the promotional period.
Based on a conservative estimate of 40km per swap, that's roughly 800km of riding each month. V-Green also plans to deploy around 30,000 battery-swapping stations across the Philippines, beginning with VinFast dealerships before expanding nationwide.
Competitive Pricing
The VinFast Viper starts at ₱73,900 under the battery subscription model, placing it in direct competition with many popular 125cc scooters. Buyers who prefer to own the batteries can choose the ₱86,600 version with one battery or the ₱99,300 model with two batteries. Subscription fees are ₱439 per month for one battery or ₱799 per month for two batteries, both with access to the battery-swapping network.
During the Early Booking Program, which ended on July 18, customers who reserved a Viper also received incentives worth ₱5,600. With pricing close to traditional scooters, the Viper gives buyers another option without requiring a significantly higher upfront investment.
