Why Electric Motorcycles Could Be the Smarter Choice for Daily Commuting

VinFast Viper

As more electric motorcycles enter the Philippine market, including VinFast's upcoming lineup, many Filipino riders are asking whether an e-motorcycle is practical for everyday use. While fuel savings are an advantage, buyers should also consider the overall ownership experience.

One of the most important factors is the availability of a complete support ecosystem. VinFast says it will launch with 28 dealerships in the Philippines, providing sales, after-sales service, warranty support, and battery-swapping facilities to help make EV ownership more convenient.

To reduce upfront costs, VinFast will also offer a battery subscription program starting at ₱439 per month for one battery or ₱799 per month for two batteries. Customers who subscribe on or before September 30, 2026 will receive 12 months of free battery subscription for one battery and up to 20 free battery swaps per month. Home charging will also be available. Depending on the model and usage, VinFast estimates riders could save around ₱40,000 to ₱70,000 in operating costs over five years compared to similar gasoline-powered motorcycles.

The company also highlights durability for local riding conditions. Models like the VinFast Viper feature an IP67-rated water-resistant motor and controller system, providing added protection when riding through heavy rain or flooded roads.

VinFast's initial lineup includes three models designed for different types of riders. The VinFast EVO offers up to 150 km of range with two batteries and a top speed of 80 km/h, making it suitable for daily commuting. The VinFast Feliz II focuses on practicality with its step-through design, flat floorboard, and 90 km/h top speed. Meanwhile, the VinFast Viper delivers a sportier ride with up to 5,200W of power, a 90 km/h top speed, a 21-liter storage compartment, USB charging, a TFT display, and smart key functionality.

With its dealership network, battery subscription program, and lineup of commuter-friendly electric motorcycles, VinFast aims to make the transition to electric mobility more accessible for Filipino riders.
